Louise Slater

Research Interests

Dr Slater's Hydro-climate Extremes research group aims to analyze and predict the evolution of water and weather extremes in the context of climatic and land cover changes. Operating at local to global scales, the group predominantly uses data-driven methods, employing open-source programming languages such as R and Python, alongside statistics and machine learning. Their research spans a variety of topics, from deciphering changes in extreme floods, droughts, or heatwaves to identifying their underlying drivers. They also work on practical applications, like creating innovative climate service tools. Their data sources are diverse and include observations, reanalysis, and climate model outputs.
